We expect to be allowed to re-open on 12th April 2021
Staying Safe on your holiday
On this page, you'll find information on the measures we're taking to keep our guests and staff as safe as possible during the coronavirus pandemic, and how these may affect your stay. Be reassured that whilst taking stringent care, we will keep as many of our facilities available as possible.
Please take the time to read the section on 'doing your bit', as all guests must follow these rules if choosing to stay at Treworgey. Thank you.
Cancellation terms and Covid
We have relaxed our usual terms for cancellations due to government travel restrictions in response to the pandemic. Here are our current terms for covid-related cancellations:
In the case of a national lockdown, or a local/regional lockdown in your area or ours that renders you unable to travel, we will offer to move all monies paid to a future date, or a full refund minus an admin fee of £75.
If you, or any of your party, are unable to travel for any other reason such as illness (this includes Covid-19), shielding or requirement to self-isolate, you will be liable for the full cost of the booking. We will endeavour to re-let the cottage for you, and if successful, will refund what we are able to recover for you. Please note that several insurers are providing cover for this eventuality for UK holidays, so we strongly recommend taking out UK travel insurance.
Measures we are taking
We have developed detailed new cleaning protocols in line with advice from leading industry bodies (see here). These include (among other things) viricidal disinfection of all high-contact areas in your cottage (from light switches to remote controls, door knobs to kitchen surfaces), appropriate PPE for our team, careful handling of dirty and clean linen (separate gloves and baskets), hot washing of all linen and towels, removal of secondary layers on duvets, pillows and mattresses between every stay, removal of cushions and throws from beds, and much more.
Unlike many cottage establishments, we have not extended our changeover hours, but instead are bringing in extra staff on changeover days. However, please please vacate the cottage on time (by 10am) to make this whole process possible for us in the limited time we have. Thank you.
We are running an enhanced cleaning regime in all communal areas
We provide handwashing facilities or hand sanitiser (of appropriate formulae) at all appropriate spots around the site.
We are taking various measures to ensure social-distancing is possible whilst using our facilities (see more below).
Please do your bit
- PLEASE depart your cottage on time (by 10am), to enable us to follow stringent and comprehensive new cleaning protocols.
- On your departure:
- Please put a load of crockery and cutlery into the dishwasher (please don’t unload it if finished before you go).
- Please remove all food from the cottage
- Please take care to remove rubbish from every room and put into the outside bins for your cottage.
- Make use of our hand-washing facilities and the hand sanitiser provided before and after using any communal areas.
- Please make sure you are present for any supermarket deliveries.
- Follow government behavior guidelines in all respects, both at Treworgey and in the local area.
- If you have symptoms of Covid-19 within 14 days of your arrival, please do not come on holiday (in line with government advice)
- If you develop symptoms during your stay, please travel back home immediately (in line with government advice) and inform us of the situation. If you are unable to travel home and have to self-isolate in your cottage, please note that you will be liable for any costs incurred due to the cancellation of future guests.
Our riding school is open. We are taking various measures including disinfecting high contact areas on tack between riders, disinfecting hat straps and body protectors between riders, providing disposable hat liners and ensuring social distancing in the yard. Our team will have suitable PPE if they need to come close to a rider for safety reasons. At the moment, we believe we will not be able to run our pony clubs due to shared equipment and close contact, but this will be under constant review depending on government advice.
We are offering animal feeding of outside animals, and taking various measures to enable social distancing and avoid contamination of surfaces. During animal feeding, please remain in your household group and make use of our handwashing facilities or sanitiser available where available. Our indoor animals (rabbits and guinea pigs) can be visited in your own time as a household - they are in the indoor beach behind the stables.
For the time being, we will not be running our pony club afternoons. We have safety worries concerning shared equipment, difficulties with social distancing, and issues of safety in pony clubs that could arise if staff are not able to physically help children with their balance, or with getting on and off. If this changes, we will let guests know before arrival.
Our Forest School will run weekly through school holidays from 3-5pm on Wednesdays. Please let us know if you'd like to book your children in. £10 per child. Parents need to come along for under 5s.
Our playground and 'indoor beach' are open. Our Indoor Beach is enormous and extremely well ventilated, so following a risk assessment, we have concluded that it is equivalent to an outdoor playground. The soft play and the playroom (allowing access to the table tennis and pool table) are open - please use the hand sanitiser provided, and the disinfectant for cleaning bat/cue handles.
Buckets and spades will not be found in the play areas, but can be borrowed from the info room. After your stay, PLEASE RETURN these to the OFFICE - we will then quarantine them before their next use.
Swimming pool and spa area
The pool is now closed for the winter, but we expect it to be open as usual from mid-May in 2022 (as it was during the warmer season in 2021). Our spa pool is open for privately-booked slots, but we are not able to open the sauna until mid-May.
Our court is open as normal. Please bring rackets and balls if you have them - otherwise we do have some to lend and provide facilities for you to sanitise handles before and after use. The court can be booked online - we will inform you of how to do this shortly before your stay.
Our on-site kitchen is open to provide delicious home-made meals to your door. Please order well in advance (ideally a week) due to increased difficulty at the moment in sourcing some ingredients.
Info room and farm stall
These will be open, with sanitiser available (and handwashing facilities) and we will ask guests to stick to social distancing rules. All our information folders (normally in the information room) will be produced in digital format - a link will be provided to all guests.
For the moment, Cheryl will not be offering spa treatments given the close-contact nature of these, but we are working on a plan to enable Cheryl to offer some treatments soon.
On arrival, you will find on the table a link to our new digital guide - this will include all information from all the local information folders that normally sit in the coffee area of our Information Room, and on the cottage kitchen tables. You'll be able to browse all the info without sharing a printed folder with other guests.
