Hidden Beaches
Written by Holly Kyte

Cornwall is full of beautiful beaches, but the most magical ones are rarely the easiest to reach. The good news is, some of the best are right on our doorstep here at Treworgey — and a little bit of a trek is usually all it takes to leave the crowds behind. Here are our favourites.
Palace Cove
This one is a gem. There's a walk down to reach it — nothing too strenuous, but enough to put off the fair-weather beach-baggers — and you're rewarded with clear water, dramatic rocks, and a real sense of having found somewhere special. It's brilliant for wild swimming, the water tends to be beautifully clear, and older kids love it for jumping off the rocks into the sea. A Best at high tide where you can make camp up on the rocks. Not much sand so not for lounging or sand-play.

Lansallos
A steep-ish walk down through a wooded valley to reach this one, but it's utterly worth it. The National Trust owns the land around it and it shows — unspoilt, peaceful, and gorgeous. There's a National Trust Car Park a short way up the lane from the start of the walk down through the woods. The stream that runs down to meet the sea adds to the charm. Even in peak summer it rarely feels overrun, simply because the walk in keeps the numbers down. Dogs love it too.

Lantic Bay
One of the most beautiful bays on the south Cornish coast, and again the walk down is what keeps it special. You park at the top and follow the coast path down — it's not hugely long but it is steep. The view as you crest the hill and the bay opens up in front of you is spectacular. Big, sandy, and usually wonderfully quiet. A firm Treworgey favourite.

The Little Hidden Beach at Talland
This one is our secret. Most people who visit Talland head straight for the main beach, which can get busy and this year, very weedy. But if you walk west along the coast path from Talland Bay, take the first left onto the coast path, and then the first left down a narrow path, you'll find yourself dropping down onto a tiny, little-known cove that feels like it's all yours. It's best visited at low tide when the sand is exposed. Tucked away and almost a secret. Don't tell too many people.

Port Nadler
Another lovely beach that is always quiet due to it's remote location. Park on the side of the road at Hannafore (West Looe) and walk along the coast path for about 20 mins. Look out or a gate on the left (after up and down some steep steps). Take this little path and you'll end up going down steep wooden steps to a beautiful big sandy beach.

"After countless visits, (we first stayed here in 1978) another wonderful stay. It just gets better. Very comfortable bed. Loved feeding the birds in the garden again. Scenery beautiful as ever. Be back soon."
