A quieter side of Cornwall

Once the busiest weeks of summer are behind us, Cornwall starts to slow down a little.

Looe and Polperro are lovely for a wander at this time of year, while the beaches and coast paths are generally a little quieter too. Wrap up, head to the coast for a walk and find somewhere for lunch, coffee and cake or a drink afterwards.

And don't write off the beach just because it's autumn. Having a big stretch of Cornish beach almost to yourself is pretty special.

Walk straight from your cottage

You don’t even need to get in the car to find a good walk.

We have our own farm walks here at Treworgey, with a Farm Walks map in every cottage. Just pull on your boots and head straight from your door to explore the farm and surrounding countryside.

Autumn is one of our favourite times to do it, as the colours start to change and there’s always something different to spot along the way.

If you fancy venturing further, we also have wonderful stretches of the South West Coast Path nearby around Looe and Polperro, with Bodmin Moor not too far away either.

Pack your swimming costume – and your wellies

Our heated outdoor swimming pool stays open right through until the end of the October half-term holidays, so swimming doesn't have to finish with summer.

Our spa pool stays open even longer, until January, and somehow becomes even more tempting as the weather gets cooler.

Back at your cottage, every one has either a log burner or an open fire, with logs provided. After a day walking, swimming or exploring, you can get the fire going and settle in for a cosy evening.

And if the Cornish rain does make an appearance? Sometimes being tucked up by the fire listening to it outside is exactly where you want to be. We'll be sharing some of our favourite ideas for rainy days at Treworgey in another blog soon.

Autumn at Treworgey

Autumn here has a completely different feel to summer. It's quieter and a little slower, with crisp mornings, muddy boots, changing leaves, quieter beaches and fires in the evenings.

So bring your walking boots, bring a jumper and definitely bring your swimming costume.

We'll have the logs ready.
