May is a wonderful time to visit Cornwall, with mild weather but fewer crowds. Enjoy spectaclular walks on the South West Coast Path with loads of daylight, beach picnics, road trips or explore Cornwall’s many castles, stately homes and museums.

25th-26th May - Green Man Weekend at Mount Edgcumbe, Torpoint, PL10 1HZ (35 mins)  10 am - 4 pm

This year is the 9th annual Green Man event at the park and will be a fantastic mix of entertainment provided by local bands, circus acts, morris dancers, re-enactment groups and much more to keep you entertained.

Once again traditional family activities will be running throughout the event along with food and craft stalls. Wood turning crafts in the Barrow Centre, bouncy castles, a beer tent, and the obligatory hog roast.  Lots of fun for visitors of all ages!

Ample parking is available very close to the event and free transport will be running to transport visitors between the car parks, the event and the Barrow Centre.There is a charge for all-day car parking but the event itself is free for all to enjoy.

25th May - 2nd Jun  - Wild Week returns to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Pentewan, St.Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6EN (50 mins) 10 am - 5 pm

At Heligan this Half Term, they’re Wild about Wildlife and even wilder about Wild Week! This much-loved event returns as everyone is encouraged to run free, connect with nature, leave the modern world at home, and give in to our wild sides. Come along to hone your survival skills and enjoy a week of creative outdoor play in your favourite half term habitat of Heligan. Children young and old are welcome to join in, grubby knees are guaranteed, with a promise to Rewild them.  Paint your faces, create your wild head dress and get ready to get stuck into some wild activities. (Suitable for all ages).

Grab some snacks and get ready for a cinematic experience like no other. The Eden Project is hosting three nights of movie classics under the stars, against the breathtaking backdrop of our Biomes. Choose from Mamma Mia! (Saturday 25 May), Jurassic Park (Sunday 26 May) and Pretty Woman (bank holiday Monday 27 May). Please note, this is not an Eden Project event and is being run by Adventure Cinema – tickets are sold through their website

25th May  -  Rockpool Ramble, Hannafore Beach, Looe  (7 mins)

Join local marine biologists to explore the rocky shore, finding and learning about the amazing critters that live on it! Starfish, crabs, fish, and anemones will all feature in this educational event that is guaranteed to satisfy the whole family. Please come along with suitable footwear (no flip flops), suncream and leave your nets at home as they can harm delicate rockpool creatures. Meet us below the coastguard station on Hannafore Beach.  Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. This is a FREE event but donations to Looe Marine Conservation Group are welcome.

30th and 31st May - Miracle Theatre Presents Love Riot, outside on the lawn at Boconnoc House, Lostwithiel PL22 0RG  (15 mins)

Step into a world of etiquette, scandal and matchmaking with this fresh new take on an 18th-century rom-com from Cornwall’s Miracle Theatre, performed outside on the lawn at Boconnoc House. Letty, promised to Doricourt since youth, prepares for marriage. Yet, Doricourt views her merely as a transaction. Facing a loveless fate, Letty reawakens her heart. Can she defy convention and find love on her terms? This vibrant retelling of Hannah Cowley’s comedy, “The Belle’s Stratagem,” celebrates Miracle’s 45th Anniversary.Recommended age 7+.   Approx running time: 2 hours including interval.  Bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds, something to sit on, and clothing appropriate for whatever the weather may hold!
