Walking and cycling in Cornwall

Walking

Treworgey is the perfect base for a walking holiday, with beautiful routes right from your garden gate and the coast path just a few miles away.

Farm walks: We have produced a pocket-sized map of walks over our 150 acre farm.  You should find one in your cottage, but if not, grab one from the office or info room.

Walks from Treworgey: We leave OS maps in every cottage (with more available at the office) and at the Info Room, you'll find a big folder full of walking ideas, both from Treworgey and nearby.

Walks from the Looe Line: The following Looe Valley Line Trails are all accessible from and end at stations along the Looe Valley Line. www.carfreedaysout.com/looe.html or www.railaletrail.com/looemap.htm

South West Coast Path: Find out more about the longest National Trail and walking it. www.swcp.org.uk or go to www.southwestcoastpath.com to see maps of shorter day walks, including some lovely ones not far from Treworgey.

Looe Island: Walk on the beautiful island nature reserve. Boat trips out to the island leave from the Looe Lifeboat station http://www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/node/3205

Wild Food & Foraging Walks: We occasionally run foraging walks at Treworgey with the wondeful Emma Gunn.  Otherwise, you could look at organising a walk with Rachel Lambert. Tailor-made or join a group. www.wildwalks-southwest.co.uk

Cycling

To cycle from Treworgey, you need to be pretty fit due to the hills (or on an e-bike!).  For family bike rides or gentler options, there are some lovely routes that you can drive to without much ado.  In particular, the Camel Trail offers a compeltely flat option with stunning views.

We encourage keen road or mountain bikers to speak to Andy (Holly's husband) when you're here, as he is very keen on both and knows the local area well!

Cornwall Bike Hire: All types of bikes (including ones with electric motors to battle all these hills!) delivered to you at Treworgey. Call 07950 774067 or visit www.cornwallbikehire.co.uk/cheapest-cornwall-bike-hire/

Foraging walks

During the early summer we are often lucky enough to welcome the wonderful Emma Gunn to take interested guests on educational foraging walks around Treworgey farm. Emma is lovely company and a real expert (she's a foraging tutor at River Cottage). We always finish up with a cup of tea and a tasting session where guests get to try some of Emma's fantastic recipes made with food foraged in Cornwall.

For the next dates we have in the diary, look for our latest 'foraging walk' blog post or drop us a line.
