Treworgey sheep update
Written by Zoe Snowdon
Most of this year's lambs are now growing fast and enjoying life out in the fields, but if you're staying with us over the next few weeks, keep an eye on the Duck Pond Field where you'll find our youngest lambs. As the late arrivals of the year, they're often busy racing around, playing and generally keeping their mums on their toes.
The sheep have recently had their annual haircut and are looking much happier now the warmer weather has arrived. Shearing day is always a busy one and, while I did have a little go myself, I was quickly reminded that sheep shearing is definitely a skill best left to the professionals. Poor Bluebell was my practice sheep and ended up looking rather patchy afterwards!
At the moment we're busy with routine health checks, keeping water troughs topped up during the warm weather and working on fencing projects around the farm. Before long, the flock will be heading back to one of their favourite places – the woodland field.
And for those wanting to enjoy a true taste of Treworgey, we currently have our own home-reared Treworgey lamb available in the freezer in the Honesty Shop. If you're planning to make the most of the BBQ during your stay, our lamb chops are hard to beat!
As always, life with sheep is never boring!
